David Weiner is the founder of Trilion Capital, California’s premier hard money lender, and serves as its President and CEO. The company started making hard money loans in San Diego in 2010 and launched its first mortgage fund in 2011. With offices now in San Diego, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area Trilion Capital has closed more than 1,000 short-term hard money loans to date, supporting in excess of $1 billion in real estate transactions, most of which involved fix and flip loans and other value add builder opportunities. The company currently manages a portfolio of approximately $150 million in hard money loan assets collateralized by real estate located in California.
David’s experience in real estate finance spans 30 years and involves working for some of the region’s largest and most widely respected real estate companies. Throughout his career, David has financed, appraised, invested in, and raised capital for several billions of dollars’ worth of real estate.
Prior to founding Trilion Capital, David worked for several private equity and institutional real estate investment fund managers including Prudential Home Building Investment Advisors and KeyBank Private Equity Group. He also worked for the Corky McMillin Companies, sourcing and managing the regional developer’s debt and equity relationships. Prior to that, David served as a Senior Consultant for KPMG Peat Marwick in its real estate consulting group. His specialties include providing capital solutions to the real estate industry, valuations and investment due diligence, and sourcing and managing debt and equity for both residential and commercial real estate portfolios.
David earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with concentration in Real Estate and Financial Management from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He has held a California Real Estate Broker License since 1988 and previously held a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser License in the State of California. David is a member in good standing, and both a Certified Fund Manager and Certified Private Lender Associate with the American Association of Private Lenders, and he abides by their code of ethics. He is also an active member of the California Mortgage Association and holds an NMLS License.
